Firstly, thanks for taking the time to look at the Floricultural Cabinet website. It’s quite possible, if you haven’t come across me before, that you’re wondering about the long name.. There's a long and romantic story to it, but I'll give you the abridged version! I come from a long line of keen gardeners, both amateur and professional, and it began because my Grandfather (or “Gappy” as we knew him) was the head gardener around various large houses and estates in Scotland over the years. One of the most beautiful things I had handed down to me from him was a leather bound copy of an Edwardian gardening journal called ‘The Floricultural Cabinet’. It came complete with glorious hand tinted botanical illustrations, and as a young ‘un I was quite struck with it. I’ve always kept it and periodically took it out whilst at art college to look at the beautifully detailed illustrations within. In 2010, a friend of mine - a very talented florist and designer- asked me if I’d be interested in going into a floristry  business with her....and so, the Floricultural Cabinet was (re-)born!

After leaving school, I went to art college. I studied 3D Design, specialising in Ceramics. I always had a thing for texture, colour, form, and most of my work was based around this. After my degree, I won a place at the Royal College of Art in South Kensington where I successfully gained my MA(RCA), and went on to work as a tutor for both textiles and ceramics at degree level. I eventually started training as a florist at The Academy of Floral Art in 2010 (see above!), and now as a qualified florist I’m finally able to combine my love of good design, and all things botanical. Hurrah! I operate as a self employed freelance florist providing wedding, funeral and event flowers throughout the South of England. I also continue to visit the wonderful Academy of Floral Art where I teach the beginners floristry courses, tasters and workshops.
